This video introduces the vital role of sustainable forest and agricultural commodity production in supporting the livelihoods, environmental health, and social well-being of smallholder producers and their communities. The Forest, Agriculture, and Commodity Trade (FACT) Dialogue, launched in 2021, set out a roadmap to promote sustainable development while protecting critical ecosystems. Through its trade and market theme, FACT countries are working to build common standards for sustainable production that benefit both producer and consumer nations. Key areas identified include ecosystem protection, fair working conditions, and transparency. Additionally, a sustainability matrix highlights the environmental, social, economic, and political factors shaping commodity sustainability across countries, serving as a tool for sharing knowledge and best practices. As work continues, FACT emphasizes inclusivity, urging that smallholders, Indigenous Peoples, and women’s voices be integrated into decisions on sustainability.
